Course Description:
This is a CA POST certified professional development course. It will consist of three (3) consecutive 8-hour days. Students successfully completing this course will receive 24 hours of CPT credit.
Blue Line Leadership is designed for, and limited to, police officers, deputies, FTO’s, corporals, & detectives of all tenure and assignment, including patrol, administrative, investigative, and specialty unit assignments. This is a great course for those influential peer leaders on your team; those who are thriving and those who have become disenfranchised, frustrated, or disappointed; those emerging leaders who desire to promote or achieve coveted specialized assignments; and those who desire a deeper and broader understanding of our chosen profession.
Topics of instruction will include: leadership at the ground level; mental conditioning and professional commitment; trust, credibility, and police culture; procedural justice, constitutional policing, and wellness; followership’s leadership responsibility; and resilient leadership and self-reflection.
Students completing this course will deepen their understanding of leadership, followership, and self to improve their work and personal relationships with others. Information and skills developed in this course will assist the student in gaining a broader perspective of the law enforcement profession, the personalities that exist in it, teams, culture, history, followership responsibilities, and leadership from wherever they’re at within the police organization.

Target Audience:
This course is restricted to police officers, deputies, FTO’s, corporals, & detectives of all tenure and assignment, including patrol, administrative, investigative, and specialty unit assignments. No supervisory or management ranks of sergeant or above should attend this course.
Class Hours: | All classes at DTLA League location are from 0730 – 1630. All classes at outside locations run from 0800 – 1700. Eight hours of class each day with a one-hour lunch break. |

Primarily, PDI’s target audience is sworn personnel from the rank of police officer through lieutenant, however non-sworn members of our profession and members of all ranks are welcome.
Although LAPPL members are made up of Los Angeles Police Officers; PDI welcomes and encourages law enforcement personnel from any agency to attend. Regional attendance and networking benefits all attendees. California agencies will receive CA POST CPT credit for completed courses.
